Who are we?

Our ranch sits in the picturesque Big Valley flats.  We are a balance of rolling hills for grazing and gentle flatlands for grains and hay.  We are not far from the dramatic cut banks of the Red Deer River.  A short 15 minute drive takes you to an unforgetable view.  Though just west of our ranch the coulees have everything a nature lover would want.  We have come to respect and cherish the land we reside on. To us,  ranching is not just  a business, it’s a way of life.  We are very fortunate to work at what we love.  All our beef are born and raised on our ranch.  We feed home grown choice silage and or greenfeed.  We grind our barley and oats at home with no added fillers.  All our beef is antibiotic free and all are without hormone implants.

At Mappin Meats, we use low stress handling techniques.  These methods we use recognize their instincts and behaviours which allow them to stay calm and quiet when we need to handle them. We also try to minimize the number of times the animals are to be handled thus minimizing stressful situations and events.  A happy criter is a happy rancher!
